An original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, manufactures products or components that are purchased by a company and retailed under that purchasing company's brand name. OEM refers to the company that originally manufactured the product.
In 2000, Phillips' first OEM product, Prototype FreedomTM Car, was displayed in the 2000 Las Vegas Coal Show. It received MSHA approval in September 2001, just in time for the Bluefield Coal Show. In October 2001 Phillips' Freedom Car entered production in a local coal mine.
